What’s all the Tea about?!
Tea has a long-standing history of being a healthy alternative among caffeine lovers. However, tea has more to offer than just being an alternative!
Let’s look at the different kind of teas all around the world:
Most famous and widely available tea in the world, people drink it with milk and sugar and as a stand-alone beverage.
Tea of the orient! Long ago, green tea was only consumed in Asian countries. But times have changed, people are aware about its health benefits and now more and more people drink green tea to lose weight and detox.
Semi-oxidized tea. The name sounds a bit fancy, just like nitrogen ice cream, but it just means it’s a tea somewhere between black and green. Flavor profiles go from grassy notes to smoky notes, depending on the region.
Least processed tea. Just like fine wine, it can be very expensive and is rare to find, but it’s worth it because it’s the closest to natural tea you can have for all you organic lovers out there!
In simple a phrase, this is aged tea. Indeed this is like cheese, aged to perfection. Very earthy flavor profiles and definitely an acquired taste, but once you acquire it, you’re hooked!
So are these all the teas you can find? No way! But it’s good to remember that to be called tea, tea comes from camellia sinensis plant. It’s like champagne; you can’t really call all the sparkling wines out there, champagne, because to be called champagne, it needs to come from the region of Champagne, France. Anyway, back to tea. So let’s be tea purists! Chamomile tea, turmeric tea etc., are not really teas…but will get back to that next time. Thanks for reading! Tea the day!!
